When the trust is worn away and the relationship is broken beyond repair there can be a dark empty silence, a great chasm. What we choose to fill that silence with is largely up to us. The anger, blame, hate, fear and self judgment all echo very loudly in this place. It is the silence that serves us well. After we are done having our emotional outbursts, and we have exhausted ourselves from our tantrums. Once we are tired of watching the “Whose Fault is it Anyway” show, we can finally be still and just feel it. Whether we ever hear the words “I am sorry” or not, forgiveness is the road to releasing the karmic burden for all involved. The forgiveness is necessary if we wish to heal, and to truly progress on our path.
